6 Classic Movie Favorites That Bombed at the Box Office

When it comes to movies and features, there's nothing better than reading something of value rather than the jump on bandwagon for the sake of cashing in type Top 10 pieces we see around the web. So when our friends at Reelz Channel shot us a link to their latest feature, Back from the Dead: Movie Classics that Began as Box-Office Bombs, that showcases a number of movies that bombed in theaters only to become fan favorites, we were glad to go behind the scenes. To tell you the dead movie truth, quite a few on the Back from the Dead list will surprise some movie lovers.
Taking a look at the strange "bomb becomes a hit" phenomenon, Reelz Channel explores a slew of classic films many would just assume were box office giants because of their popularity, notoriety, and huge fan bases. Although we knew that Blade Runner wasn't a huge box office hit in theaters, we always knew it was a kick ass sci-fi flick that would some day get its due.
Interestingly, the ReelzChannel feature, which includes Blade Runner, comes full circle to when TheDeadbolt's Reg Seeton interviewed director Ridley Scott a couple of years ago who touched on the lack of theatrical success of Blade Runner. "I was very happy about it at the time," Scott told Seeton in an interview for another outlet. "I thought I really nailed it. Whatever it was, I nailed it to the wall, and then it was confusing to see that people didn't get it. It's taken a while now to do. Obviously, there is a certain amount of satisfaction there ..."
